21st Century Evangelism Conference March 13
The Rev. Dr. Stephen Hayner, President of Columbia Theological Seminary, will be the keynote speaker at an evangelism conference to be held at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Saturday, March 13. The conference will focus on how to reach a changing culture with the unchanging message of the Gospel and will include workshops led by many nationally-known Christian leaders. Conference brochure>>
The conference is being sponsored by the Evangelism Network of the Presbytery of Miami Valley. Churches in the Cincinnati area also have been involved in planning the event. Register online>
Stories We Live By: Spring Youth Retreat, April 9-11
The Rev. Jennifer Fouse will be the guest speaker for the 2010 Spring Youth Retreat, April 9-11 at Kirkmont Camp and Conference Center. Jennifer is a graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary and is currently serving as the Presbyterian Campus Minister at Vanderbilt University. She has been a preacher and keynote speaker at youth events around the country including the Montreat Youth Conferences.
The retreat, which is open to youth in grades 7-12 and their advisors, is sponsored by the Presbyterian Youth Connection (PYC) Network of Presbytery of the Miami Valley.

One Great Hour of Sharing
Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with people experiencing need. Our gifts support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development that help people find safe refuge, start new lives and work together to strengthen their families and communities.

Kirkmont Center opens its Summer Program Schedule May 28 with the Memorial Day Weekend Family Camp. PMV grant funds Urban Church Immersion Seminar
The Center for Urban Ministry of United Theological Seminary, Dayton, will present an Urban Church Immersion seminar May 22 at College Hill Community Presbyterian Church. The seminar is being funded through a grant by the Northminster Mission Fund of Presbytery of the Miami Valley.
“The seminar is an orientation or an immersion into the social-cultural dynamics of the urban church and its social-cultural context. The course provides urban pastors and laity with a framework and basic skills for ministry in the unique urban setting.” The featured speaker is the Rev. Peter Bellini, PhD, Senior Pastor of Westville United Methodist Church and Adjunct Professor of Urban Studies at UTS. Learn more and register>>
Dayton Habitat for Humanity
Presbyterian/Catholic Build 2010
Once again Presbyterian and Catholic Churches will “Catch the Building Spirit” when they team up to build a Habitat for Humanity House in Dayton. This will be their 17th year working together. This year the build will again be on Stratsburg Drive in Dayton. Blitz Week will start on the Saturday, May 29, and run through Friday, June 4.
Churches interested in participating either with labor or financing should contact Hank Baust, Presbyterian Coordinator for “Catch the Building Spirit” by email or at 937-429-0360.

Presbyterians respond to the disasters in Haiti and Chile
Recent strong earthquakes have affected the nations of Chile and Haiti. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is responding in Chile PDA is working with our ecumenical partner, Church World Service, to provide basic humanitarian assistance and to help local partners in assessing the needs. PDA continues to respond to the needs of the disaster affected population in Haiti. Invisible Children: Screening and Program, March 11
Boni, a young man from Uganda, is traveling with the organization Invisible Children to share the powerful story of his life in Northern Uganda. He was abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army but was able to escape from fighting in Africa’s longest running war. His story is featured in an award-winning documentary film produced by Invisible Children that will be shown at a screening at Southminster Presbyterian Church on Thursday, March 11, 6:30 PM. Mission to the USA Program September 29-October 27
The Synod of the Covenant is inviting twelve church leaders from the Middle East to spend four weeks as staff members of synod congregations September 29- October 27. These ecumenical partners will preach, teach and become a part of a host congregation, celebrating our oneness in Christ as they share their stories of faith and teach us about life in the Middle East and the ongoing issues and conflicts there. Any church in the synod is welcome to apply by April 1. Cost is based on ability to pay and size of church (between $650 and $1400.) Learn more>>
